Whistler Institute Appoints New Executive Director

February 12, 2024. Whistler, BC – Growth continues at the Whistler Institute with the exciting appointment of Mandy Rousseau as the organization’s new executive director. Rousseau has honed her career in Whistler’s tourism, non-profit, and government sectors over the past two decades. From marketing and communications to business development, event and volunteer management to program producer, Rousseau has consistently worked with various stakeholders throughout the Whistler community, seeking mutually beneficial collaborations that elevate the Whistler experience.

“The Whistler Institute has done great work developing education and thought leadership programming, and my vision is to build on their good work. I‘m a big fan of learning for life, and I believe education is our best avenue forward to creating more dynamic cohorts of thought. I am honoured to join the Whistler Institute where we inspire action and facilitate learning for life opportunities for the whole community.” Mandy Rousseau, Executive Director of the Whistler Institute

WI is also pleased to announce that four members have been appointed to the Board of Directors: Andrea Eby, Elyse Feaver, Cynthia Higgins, and Adam Seedsman were voted in at the January meeting, bringing their knowledge and expertise to WI’s governing body.

“Looking ahead, our goal is to grow and diversify our programming over the next three years. The expertise our new executive director and board members bring to the table will be indispensable to attaining these goals. While plenty of work is ahead of us, I’m proud of how our outgoing directors have really set up the incoming team for success. On behalf of the board, we are excited to welcome these five to the organization.” Sue Adams, Board Chair of the Whistler Institute

During outgoing Executive Director Suki Cheyne’s six year tenure, the organization gained charitable status; underwent a rebranding; and signed memorandum of understandings with the British Columbia Institute of Technology and Capilano University to deliver post-secondary programming in Whistler. Cheyne has been integral to the Whistler Institute’s growth, and the board wishes to express their deepest appreciation for her contributions.

Rousseau joined the organization on February 1; she will be present at the spring sessions of the Global Perspectives Speaker Series on March 7 and April 4, and she looks forward to meeting you there.
